Led by Chief Constable, Steve Ashman, Northumbria Police is dedicated to reducing crime and disorder and building trust and confidence in its communities.

The force has around 3,809 police officers, 1,434 police staff, 274 Special Constables and 423 Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) (Figures at 1 October, 2012), who work together to prevent, detect and reduce crime in the Northumbria area.

The force is split into three geographical area commands and supported by 12 specialist departments.
